Desata terms of service.

These terms govern your use of desata.io and the tools we make available through it, including Loan Limit, ClarifiED, and Offer Letters. By using our site or tools, you agree to these terms.

Desata Analytics, Inc. (“Desata,” “we,” “us,” “our”) is the operator of desata.io.

Our Tools

Desata provides compliance and decision-support tools for financial aid offices at Title IV institutions. Our current tools include:

  • Loan Limit — a schedule of reduction loan limits calculator
  • ClarifiED — a private student loan recommendation engine
  • Offer Letters — an interactive financial aid offer letter experience

These tools are provided free of charge to financial aid offices.

Our tools are designed to assist financial aid professionals with calculations, comparisons, and presentation of financial aid information. They are not a substitute for professional judgment, legal counsel, or official regulatory guidance.

While we work to ensure our tools reflect current federal regulations, you are responsible for verifying that any output is consistent with the applicable rules and your institution’s policies. We do not guarantee that our tools are error-free or that they reflect the most recent regulatory changes at all times.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use our site and tools for lawful purposes consistent with their intended function — supporting financial aid operations and compliance at Title IV institutions.

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the site or tools
  • Use automated systems to scrape or extract data from the site
  • Misrepresent your affiliation with an institution
  • Use the tools in a way that violates applicable law or regulation

Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and tools on desata.io are owned by Desata or used under license. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute our tools or content without prior written permission.

You may link to our site and share tool outputs in the normal course of your work at a financial aid office.

Availability and Changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any tool or feature at any time without notice. We are not obligated to maintain any particular tool or level of service.

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Desata is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our site or tools. This includes, without limitation, damages related to reliance on tool outputs for compliance decisions.

Our total liability for any claim related to our site or tools is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim — which, for free tools, is zero.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Desata and its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of our site or tools, or your violation of these terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles.
